A quick reading that treats a single card (or its orientation) as a yes, no, or maybe to a direct question.

A yes/no reading answers a direct, closed question with a single card. One common method reads upright as “yes” and reversed as “no,” with the card's own tone tipping toward a firm or a qualified answer; another leans on the card's meaning to give a “yes, but…” rather than a flat verdict.

Yes/no is fast and satisfying, but it's the shallowest way to use tarot. Most readers treat the answer as a starting point and pull a card or two more to ask why — which usually turns out to be the useful part.
